Dear Squirrels,
Well, its fall and like it or not, this is the time of year when things die. Leaves go out in a burst of glory, fruit trees lose their leaves in a sigh of releif, having passed their seedy children into the next world, and everywhere our animal friends are getting chubby- with fur, with fat- having gorged themselves preparing for the long, cold winter ahead.
This fall I was lucky enough to have some dear friends with a pear tree.
And to visit the Seattle Arboretum's Japanese garden.
Koi feeding season had just ended and these babies were more like small trained whales. The lady on the left is eyeing me like I could be made of tasty shrimp-meal, don't fool yourself that she was just curious! These docile seeming creatures were on the prowl. We saw one koi in the pond that had to have been a colossal 30 lb beast, it practically had a wake when it swam by.
Wishing you all a peaceful, reflective autumn and a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
